Valorant FPS Optimization Guide: PC Settings & Hardware Tuning

Valorant is a highly competitive tactical shooter where every millisecond counts. To achieve peak performance, you need a high frame rate (FPS) and low system input latency. Even on modest hardware, proper configuration of game settings, driver adjustments, and system tweaks can lead to substantial increases in frame rates and aim responsiveness.

Optimizing In-Game Graphics Settings

Most professional Valorant players run low graphics settings, not because their high-end PCs can't handle it, but to maximize visibility and eliminate visual clutter. Here are the recommended graphics settings:

  • Multithreaded Rendering: Enabled (Critical for modern multi-core CPUs)
  • Material Quality: Low
  • Texture Quality: Low
  • Detail Quality: Low
  • UI Quality: Low
  • Vignette: Disabled
  • V-Sync: Disabled (V-Sync introduces input lag)
  • Anti-Aliasing: MSAA 2x or None
  • Anisotropic Filtering: 2x or 4x
  • Improve Clarity: Enabled (Makes players stand out from background)
  • Bloom & Distortion: Disabled

Minimizing Input Latency with NVIDIA Reflex

NVIDIA Reflex is an SDK built into the Valorant engine that allows the CPU and GPU to work in tighter synchronization, drastically reducing input lag. If you have an NVIDIA graphics card, set 'NVIDIA Reflex Low Latency' to 'On + Boost'. The 'Boost' modifier forces the graphics card to maintain maximum core clock speeds even during CPU-limited scenarios, ensuring that your mouse clicks register on-screen as quickly as possible.

Windows and Driver Adjustments

Ensure Windows Game Mode is enabled, as it prioritizes system resources for games and suppresses background tasks. In your GPU control panel (NVIDIA Control Panel or Radeon Software), set Power Management Mode to 'Prefer Maximum Performance' and disable vertical sync globally. Keeping your graphics drivers up to date is also essential, as manufacturers frequently release updates that improve stability and performance for competitive titles.
